(VIDEO) What do you think about talking to yourself?

Following the last research in which I found the importance of art as a historical document on how we view or viewed things in the past or the present, I decided to make another video which revolved around the question, what do you think about talking to yourself? The response amounted to a lot more than I thought I would get. There were multiple realization which happened while I was interviewing people.

Is the human consciousness isolated?

Is it due to its association with mental health illnesses that people find talking to themselves odd or strange?

Talking to one's self is necessary for problem-solving and could be the bases of logical thinking.

The video, above serves multiple purposes, first it was an invitation for the end of year graduation show. second, it was a collaboration with an artist who is working on a series of artist profiles and third, it was a video for my project, the aim for the project is to simply and purely document how the consciousness is viewed in the present, almost in an archival way.

The next step for the footage is for it to be rewatched and recut into a better and more direct invitation video for the graduation show and perhaps to be re-cut again for the sake of clearness in the project.

After talking with Vincent we came to a conclusion for another topic which I believe is relevant in this case, the invisible borders (not to be mixed up with private borders which are also invisible but necessary in the society we live in) we create could be the reason why the human consciousness is viewed as a topic which people tend to avoid.

In conclusion, the shoot went a lot better than I thought it would, the only bad thing which occurred was a technical issue regarding sound, and background noise, I will keep this issue in mind for next time. For the next shoot, I would like to perhaps do another shoot similar to this one where I ask people about the invisible border they create. The full plan for the next shoot will be present in the next post or my notebook.
